Fade combines the sounds of rock, pop
and electronica with powerful,
passionate vocals.
Contemporary in style, with a dark edge, fade is a
dynamic young band with a growing track record of live performances and
industry achievements. One of Sydney's best live bands, Fade has been
mesmerising audiences and steadily gaining fans with their hypnotic and
powerful live show. The Fade
sound has been described as Evanescence meets No Doubt *.
Formed in 2004, Fade resulted when songwriter Benjamin Knight teamed up
with singer/songwriter Rebecca Voorn.
Influences for Fade’s music are varied and include artists such as Pink
Floyd, The Doors, The Cure, Bon Jovi, Cranberries and Garbage.
“I’m heavily influenced by Pink Floyd so keyboards are a prominent feature
of the music,” says Benjamin.
Degree qualified in music, Benjamin (drums) teamed up with fellow music
graduate Attila Slay (guitar) and friends Rebecca (vocals) and Brad
Warren as bass player. Andy Sheehan (keyboards) joined the band
in 2005 to complete the line up for Fade. In 2006 a line up change for Fade
saw Brad depart the band with Brian Peirce (bass) coming on board in 2007.
From Australia, members of Fade come from
Sydney, The Blue Mountains and Byron Bay but are now based in Sydney, where
the debut EP Greed was recorded and produced. Fade completed mastering at Studios 301 for the
EP in 2005. The songs were mastered by ARIA award winning
engineer, Steve Smart.
Greed,
a kicking rock song with powerful vocals, a catchy
melody and strong keyboards,
is the first single off the debut EP, also titled Greed
and released July 22
through Zero Music.
Accompanying Greed on the EP
are the songs True, Deceived and Day by Day.
Greed was accepted onto the 2005 AIR (Association
of Independent Records) rock sampler and BLU FM
compilation CD.
Fade has been playing regularly in Sydney and surrounds since January 2004
and has supported bands including Dreamshifter, Tripgauge and Plunja.
Venues that Fade has played
at include The Hopetoun, Surry Hills, University of
Western Sydney, Caringbah Bizzo's, Spectrum in
Darlinghurst, The Brass Monkey, Cronulla,
The Metro in Sydney, The Cat & Fiddle Hotel in Balmain, The Bat & Ball Hotel,
The Sandringham in Newtown and The Excelsior Hotel in Surry Hills.
Fade
completed a "Summer of Greed" debut tour in
2005/6 to promote the Greed EP. The band plans to tour
again in 2008, following the release of their
new
single in 2008.
